In collaboration with our departmental and community partners, Kinship Care Services’ mission is to provide information, resources, services and support to relative caregivers and their children to enhance the family unit promoting permanency, safety, and reduced reliance on detentions.

Program Components

Two Kinship Resource Centers staffed with experienced Children’s Social Workers and Kinship Liaisons are available to assist relative caregivers.

Services are designed to assist relative caregivers in maintaining the kinship family unit and include:
  • Community Outreach
  • Community Education
  • Information and Referral
  • Family Support through one-on-one intervention
  • Advocacy during case planning activities to sustain and increase the success of the placement or informal arrangement
  • Caregiver Support Groups
  • Respite opportunities/Recreation
Note:
Supportive assistance is also available and provided at each Resource Center to probate relative legal guardians and informal kinship supporting the department’s prevention efforts.
